Preps Area Roundup -- Musselman's Stephenson reaches 1,000 points

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Nikki Stephenson had 19 points and 12 rebounds, becoming the first girl in Musselman history to score 1,000 career points as the Applemen opened their season with a 63-56 win over Mercersburg Academy on Wednesday.

Meghan Stambaugh added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Chantie Henderson scored 15 points and Brittany Marsh had seven boards and five steals for Musselman (1-0).

Jen Dillon scored 15 points and Caroline Lovette had 14 for Mercersburg (1-2).

South Carroll 51, Boonsboro 46

BOONSBORO -- Brynn Arnone had 21 points and 21 rebounds for Boonsboro, which rallied to force overtime with South Carroll but fell short in the extra period in its season opener.

Emma Dalton scored 12 points and Kristen Byers tallied five steals for the Warriors (0-1).

Jefferson 61, Berkeley Springs 42

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Dakeea Marshall scored a game-high 19 points for Jefferson, which rallied to outscore Berkeley Springs 42-19 in the second half to defeat the host Indians in the championship game of the Eddie's Tire Tip-Off Tournament.

Alyssa Plourde had 15 points for the Cougars (2-0).

Deidra Burch led the Indians with 17 points, including three 3-pointers.

East Hardy 51, St. James 27

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Caroline Salisbury scored 13 points and Jordan Wills added seven for St. James (0-4), which fell to East Hardy in the consolation game of the Eddie's Tire Tip-Off Tournament.

Forbes Road 48, Hancock 23

HANCOCK -- Shawnda Wills scored nine points while Carly Logsdon had nine rebounds and Chelsea Stigile added eight for Hancock (0-3).

Martinsburg 107, Goretti 31

Iesha Robinson led all scorers with 26 points for Martinsburg, which led 34-4 at the end of the first quarter in its season-opening victory at St. Maria Goretti.

Jackie Brewer and Jamie Hill each scored 21 points for the Bulldogs (1-0) while Yolonda Pinkett chipped in with 18 points.

Angie Nevarez scored 12 points for the Gaels (2-3).

Williamsport 49, South 33

WILLIAMSPORT -- Kelly Beard had 22 points and seven rebounds, leading the Wildcats past the Rebels.

Kayla Ewing added eight points and eight rebounds for Williamsport (2-0).

Alex Silva led South Hagerstown (0-1) with 18 points.

Hedgesville 36, Allegany 32

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- Brittany Boarman had 16 points and seven rebounds, and the Eagles rallied from a six-point deficit in the final two minutes.

Katy Leborious hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to three and Greyson Brooks scored a basket to cut it to one. Brooks then made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it up, and McKenzie Hayes made 3 of 4 free throws in the final minute.

Brooks had six rebounds for Hedgesville (1-0).

SYKESVILLE, Md. -- Shane Zbir led Boonsboro (0-2) in scoring with eight points in the Warriors' (0-2) loss to South Carroll.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Taylor Dunn had 22 points, Nigel Van Oostrum had 13 and A.J. Dean added 10 for Mercersburg Academy (2-2).
