United Way plans Rally on the Square

December 11, 2008

United Way of Washington County plans to hold its annual Rally on the Square at 5:30 p.m. today.

During the rally, which will take place on Public Square in Hagerstown, the campaign thermometer will be updated, holiday carols will be sung, and free hot chocolate and coffee will be provided courtesy of Gourmet Goat.

"This is such a great way to get all of our supporters together around the holidays," said Addie Staebler, director of resource development for the United Way. "We are looking forward to reminding everyone passing through downtown Hagerstown about our campaign."

As of Wednesday, Dec. 10, the campaign was at 49 percent of the $2 million goal, or at about $971,000.

"The campaign is so important this year," Staebler said. "Everyone in this county knows someone who has been affected by the recession. By donating to United Way, you can help everyone in your community."
