WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" (Brezler) Cason, 85, of Waynesboro, died at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in the Hershey Medical Center. She had been in failing health for the past two years and critically ill for the past week.

Born Sept. 15, 1923, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late C. Robert Brezler Sr., and Teresa (Murphy) Brezler. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

Mrs. Cason graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1941.

She and her husband, the late H. Spencer Cason Jr., were married on June 14, 1944, in the chapel at Fort Ritchie, Cascade, Md. They moved to Broad Street in 1950. Mr. Cason died on Jan. 19, 1983.


Mrs. Cason was a life long member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and painting. Along with her husband, she enjoyed taking camping trips and the family beach vacations.

She was a devoted mother to her five daughters, E. Anne Bonner and her husband Guy of Waynesboro, Peggy E. Wagaman and her husband Buck of Waynesboro, Laura J. Robezzoli and her husband Alan of Wernersville, Pa., Marcia C. Long and her husband Dan of Waynesboro, and Emily S. Wishard and her husband Dwaine of Waynesboro; and her son David E. Cason Sr. and his wife Laurie of Waynesboro. She was a loving grandmother to: 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by three sisters, Louise "Weeb" West of Waynesboro, Margaret "Peg" Helfrick and her husband Bill of Waynesboro, and Sr. Georgia Brezler DC of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, C. Robert Brezler Jr. of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Matthew J. Cason, Charles B. Cason, and H. Spencer Cason III; and one granddaughter, Christina L. Cason.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, where a Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m.
