MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Cleo P. Boyd, Sr., 89, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at City Hospital.

Born April 15, 1919, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Philip Boyd and Florence Plotner Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. Kastle Boyd.

He retired from the B & O Railroad.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by one son, Cleo P. Boyd Jr. of Martinsburg; one sister, Alma Coffinbarger of Tomahawk, W.Va.; one brother, Lyle Boyd of Martinsburg; two grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Olinger and Velma Cole; and one brother, Paul Boyd.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Military graveside services will be held in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
