HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Richard Anthony Viands, 44, of Harpers Ferry, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at his home.

Born Aug. 3, 1964, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Bonnie Viands Cockrell of Harpers Ferry and the late James R. Viands.

He was the owner of Caseys Construction Co.

He was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 948 in Charles Town, W.Va., and the Tuscarora Ruritan Club.

He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl Viands of Martinsburg; three daughters, Doreen Annis, Samantha Viands and Casey Viands, all of Harpers Ferry; maternal grandmother, Rosie Peer of Harpers Ferry; and paternal grandfather, Jim Viands of Harpers Ferry.


Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donnie Jane Cardwell will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer and Norton Funeral Home, Charles Town.
