WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Elmer Clinton Abel, 85, of 261 Park St., died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at his home.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Fairchance, Pa., he was the son of the late John M. and Carrie E. Tuttle Abel.
He attended Fairchance schools.
He retired from Frick Co. in Waynesboro, where he worked from 1950 to 1986 in the maintenance department.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving stateside.
He was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise West Abel, whom he married Jan. 12, 1962; two daughters, Audrey Lester of Gore, Va., and Sheila Burkett of State Line, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Sue Grams, with whom he lived, and Doris Smith of Front Royal, Va.; three sisters, Edna Swaney and Dora Campbell, both of Uniontown, Pa., and Goldie Backos of Sutersville, Pa.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
