Carrie Viola Stouffer, 76, of 17806 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.

Carrie has gone to her homecoming celebration in heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, and deceased loved ones.

Born Nov. 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Rosie Viola Mills Yost.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Stouffer, in 1994.

Carrie grew up and attended school in the Clear Spring area. She worked for the Washington County Board of Education for 23 years and retired in 1994.

Carrie is survived by three sons, Richard Lee Stouffer Sr. and his wife, Brenda, Donald Edwin Stouffer Sr. and his wife, Nancy, and David Allen Stouffer Sr. and wife, Candy; one daughter, Sharon Lynne Stouffer, all of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Richard Stouffer Jr., Jessica Stouffer Keefer, Donald (D.J.) Stouffer Jr., David Stouffer Jr., Michael Stouffer, Edward Stouffer and Kevin Stouffer; and 10 great-grandchildren, all of Hagerstown. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Clever Douglas of Clear Spring, Jean Gladhill of Big Pool and Ruth Snyder of Clear Spring; four brothers, Richard Yost Sr., James Yost Sr., Lauren Yost Sr. and Larry Yost Sr., all of Clear Spring.


Carrie is also survived by a dear close friend and companion, David N. Houser of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles C. Yost, Clarence C. Yost and Douglas G. Yost Sr.; and a sister, Betty June Yost.

Carrie was co-founder and a member of River of Life Worship Center (formerly Trinity Christian Church of God) for 40 years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the River of Life Worship Center, 12312 Orebank Road, Clear Spring, Md. The Rev. Walter Watson Douglas and the Rev. Mary Alice Clever Douglas will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
