GIRLS BASKETBALL



Quielanna Gantt had 22 points, eight steals and five assists as North Hagerstown routed Brunswick 74-29 on Tuesday in both teams' season opener.

Kishia Jackson had 17 points - including five of North's 10 3-pointers - and seven steals, while Akatshi Osongo came off the bench to grab eight rebounds for the Hubs.

MSD 50, Clear Spring 20

FREDERICK, Md - Andrea Baum had a game-high 14 points and six rebounds to lead Clear Spring, but the Blazers lost to Maryland School for the Deaf.

Lindsay Trump had three blocks for the Blazers (0-1).

Cumberland Valley 60, Chambersburg 47

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Emma Fickel scored 22 points to lead Cumberland Valley (2-1, 1-0) past Chambersburg in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth.

Brooklyn Shearer had 13 points to lead the Trojans (0-2, 0-1). Jen Hamilton had 11 points and five rebounds, and Cayla Salmon added nine points and seven rebounds.

McConnellsburg 50, Greencastle 47

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Meghin Palmer led the Spartans (3-0) with 13 points and five rebounds, while Rebecca Rider scored 10 points and Cali Schroyer had six boards in a win over Greencastle-Antrim.

Courtney McClure scored 20 points, Rachel Porterfield added 11 and Michelle Baker had 10 for the Blue Devils (1-2).

Berkeley Springs 56, East Hardy 45

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Amber Booher had 18 points, six rebounds and four steals to lead Berkeley Springs, which raced to an 18-6 first-quarter lead in the Eddie's Tire Tip-Off Classic.

Deidra Burch scored 15 points and Jessica Haynes added 13 for the Indians (1-0).

Jefferson 69, St. James 13

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Katie Mangold led Jefferson with 19 points as the Cougars (1-0) thrashed St. James (0-3) at the Eddie's Tire Tip-Off Classic.

Shalom 50, Heritage 17

CRESAPTOWN, Pa. - Alexis Marquiss had 12 points and six steals for Shalom, which outscored Heritage (4-1, 2-1) 21-0 in the fourth quarter of their MDCC opener.

Ally Slick scored 12 points for Shalom (3-1, 1-0), while Sarah Marquiss had 11 rebounds and three blocks and Hunter Martin added five assists.

Faith Christian 36, Broadfording 24

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Nicole Deneseus scored 11 points to lead Faith Christian (2-2, 1-1) in the MDCC.

Charlotte Worsfold led all scorers with 14 points for Broadfording (0-4, 0-2).

CVCS 44, Calvary 27

CRESAPTOWN, Md. - Kendra Myers had 17 points and five steals to help Cumberland Valley Christian defeat Calvary Christian (0-2, 0-2) in the Blazers' MDCC opener.

Christine Walker had 11 points and 10 rebounds, Kelsey McHugh had eight points and 11 rebounds and Kacie Marsh added six steals for CVCS (3-0, 1-0).

Bishop Walsh 29, Hancock 27

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Brianna Swisher had nine points and nine rebounds for Hancock in an overtime loss to Bishop Walsh on Monday.

Maureen Levy had 14 rebounds, Chelsea Stigile had 12 rebounds and Shawnda Wills added nine rebounds and three assists for the Panthers (0-2).
