Church to host live nativity



Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave, Hagerstown, will hold a live nativity Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on the church lawn. It will be a spinoff of Ted Dekker's story of "The Drummer Boy."

Art in the Hall at hospital



The paintings of Ted and Lucille Murray are on display at Washington County Hospital throughout the month of December.

Art in the Hall is sponsored by Valley Art Association and the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary. You may purchase any of the paintings at the hospital gift shop. Portions of the proceeds are donated to the Washington County hospital Auxiliary.

Art show under way



An all-membership show of Valley Art Association artists will be held at the Mansion House Art Gallery through Jan. 11.

The Mansion House is in Hagerstown City Park on the hill above Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Hours are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

South Hagerstown High School 2008 graduates who purchased a yearbook can pick up the spring supplement in room 4245 between noon and 4 p.m. (no pickup between 1 and 1:30 p.m.) through Friday, Dec. 19.

Saturday - Bert Kramer of Annapaca Farm will present "Live Alpaca," at 2 p.m. at Discovery Station in downtown Hagerstown.

Kids Day at the Market set for Saturday



Kids Day at the Market will be held at Hagerstown City Farmers Market Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The market is at 25 W. Church St., Hagerstown.

German Christmas



A German Christmas display will be held at the Jonathan Hager House on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Concert planned



A Utility Relief Benefit Concert will be held at The Maryland Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.

The concert will feature opera performer William Clarence Marshall III and local performers. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships go to the City of Hagerstown's Utility Relief Fund. Tickets cost $10. For more information, call 301-790-2000 or go to www.mdtheatre.org on the Web.

Museum display



The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts has four works by artist Grace Hartigan on display in the museum's west corridor.

Hartigan, an abstract expressionist artist, died Nov. 15 in Baltimore She was 86.

Hartigan moved to Baltimore in 1960 with her husband, Winston Price, a scientist at Johns Hopkins University. She began teaching at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1964 and was instrumental in the founding of the college's graduate school of painting. Hartigan continued to teach at the school until 2007, when she retired.

The museum has four works by Hartigan in its permanent collection. These works are on display in honor of Hartigan's passing. For more information, call 301-739-5727 or go to www.wcmfa.org on the Web.
