David S. Seacrist, 65, of Garden Lane, Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Born July 26, 1943, in Van, W.Va., he was the son of the late J.C. and Dorothy May (Deem) Seacrist.

He was a 1961 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

He played varsity football, officiated flag and high school football in the state of Maryland, umpired for ASA Softball in the Tri-State area and was a member of Redmen Club Conococheague Tribe 84, Williamsport, Md.

He retired from the City of Hagerstown in 2005 after 36 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Seacrist; son, Jay Leonard; father-in-law, I.L. (Pete) Cartwright; brother, Allen Seacrist and wife, Cheryl; and sister, Barb Churchey, all of Hagerstown; sisters, Marty Gouff and Kathy Thomas and husband, Pat, and niece, Jodi Jenkins, all of Las Vegas; granddaughters, Dakotah Seacrist and Alianna Seacrist, both of Havre de Grace, Md.; special friends, Steve, Tammy and Seth Jarrell of Chambersburg, Pa., and Don and Lisa Fox of Hagerstown.

He was preceded in death by nephew, Kirk Churchey, and mother-in-law, Sally Lou Cartwright.

The family will receive friends Saturday Jan. 10, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, Md.
