MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ronald B. "Bud" Bowers, 79, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born March 1, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Bowers and Alma Eversole Bowers.

He retired from Corning Glass Co.

He attended First Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of Corning Retirees and coached Corning Glass Indians Little League for 13 years. He was a member of Little Springs Hunting Club.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Cromwell Bowers; one daughter, Linda Henry of Martinsburg; one son, Ronald Bowers II of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four sisters, Louise Friski of Harrisonburg, Va., Peggy Heflin of Fresno, Calif., Elizabeth Pingley of Wardensville, W.Va., and Rebecca MacLachlan of Indio, Calif.; two brothers, William Bowers of Sun Lake, Ariz., and David Bowers of Front Royal, Va.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
