Bridges brochure wins state award

December 07, 2008

The Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau last month won one of the Maryland Tourism Council's eight statewide marketing awards.

The annual awards program recognizes the most creative, innovative and thoughtful marketing projects and programs that bring visitors to Maryland.

The Bridges of Washington County brochure was honored with the Best Shoestring Budget Award.

"The award is most welcome, because the bridge brochure project was a labor of love for the CVB," bureau president Tom Riford said.

The colorful, fold-out brochure includes photos and a history of each bridge, maps of Washington County and each bridge's location.

Riford said a new printing of the brochure includes additional information and photographs.

"This award is shared by a lot of people," Riford said.
