The Bonds

Stan and Lois Bond recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at The Lodge at Shepherd's Spring. A luncheon was hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mark DeBord, their son, Justin "Chip" Bond and their grandchildren. The event was attended by family members and friends.

The invocation was given by their son-in-law. Music was provided on keyboard and flute by three nieces. Their son sang a solo, and their daughter and granddaughter gave a toast. Their grandson took pictures. A slide show presentation was shown.

The Bonds are members of the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren.

Mr. Bond is the son of the late Irene Bond Thayer and Ralph Thayer and Stanley H. Bond. He worked at the Frederick County Health Department as Director of Environmental Health.

Mrs. Bond is the daughter of the late Idella and J.P. Mose. She was employed by the X-ray department of Washington County Hospital, Frederick County Health Department, and by Upstart Library Promotions.


The Bonds were married on Oct. 18, 1958, at the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Clayton Gehman, now deceased.

The Staleys

John and Nancy Staley of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 19, 2008.

Their daughters, Joanna Kemmerer, Julie Watson and son-in-law Bobby Watson, hosted a surprise brunch at the Schmankerl Stube Restaurant with family and friends.

The Staleys were married on Oct. 19, 1958, at Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. Strunk, now deceased.

They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The Wellers

Marvin and Kathy Weller of Greencastle, Pa., celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a surprise party on Oct. 26, 2008, at their home on Buchanan Trail West.

The event was given by their children, April and Jimmy Weller. Joining them were more than 100 family members, friends and neighbors.

The Wellers were married on Sept. 18, 1983, at Trinity United Church of the Brethren in State Line, Pa. by the Rev. Michael Dean.

Mrs. Weller is an assembler at World Kitchen Inc. in Greencastle.

Mr. Weller is a finish carpenter at Waynesboro Construction Co.

Mrs. Weller is the daughter of Robert Gearhart and the late Fannie (Mason) Gearhart.

Mr. Weller is the son of Sylvia (Dorty-Weller) McNew and the late James Orville Weller.
