MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Carlton "Judd" May Sr., 93, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born Sept. 14, 1915, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late James Robert May and Ethel Irene Prather May.

He was the owner of the Airport Caf.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Berkeley Post 14, American Legion and VFW Post 896 in Martinsburg.

He was a member of the Vanville Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hillard May; two daughters, Jacqueline D. Moore and Jo Ann Porterfield, both of Martinsburg; three sons, Carlton J. May Jr. of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Robert W. May of Martinsburg and Mark E. May of Shepherdstown; one sister, Isabelle Myers of Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis Lee May and Jerry Wayne May; three sisters, Catherine Rice, Louise McDonald and Betty Angle; five brothers, Nelson May, Elwood May, Max May, James May and Robert May; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Pastor B. J. Taylor will officiate. Military graveside services will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
