CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - John Stafford Woodrow Wilson, 96, of Owl Hollow Farm, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born in Connellsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Amanda Stafford and Harry Campbell Wilson.

He was a 1932 graduate of Connellsville High School and a 1947 graduate of Ashland College in Ohio, earning a bachelor of science degree. He earned a master of education degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951.

He retired as a secondary school counselor from the Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Md. He also was a retired beef cattle farmer from Jefferson County, W.Va.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He received the EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal, among others.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Connellsville and attended Zion Episcopal Church locally.

He was a member of the Charles Town Moose and the Lake Worth (Fla.) BPOE Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jacque Line Barbour Wilson; two daughters, Susan J. McGorman of Michigan and Jondra J. Kershner of Charles Town; three sons, John T. Wilson of Charles Town, Lt. Col. Chet B. Wilson of the Kansas Air National Guard, Wichita, Kan., and Jay B. Wilson of Leetown, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. The Rev. Charles D. Soto will officiate. Military graveside services will be held in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
