Rose (Suranno) Mazzo, 93

December 05, 2008

FEB. 12, 1915-DEC. 3, 2008

On Dec. 3, 2008, a Rose bloomed in heaven. Rose (Suranno) Mazzo, 93, of Hagerstown, died at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Feb. 12, 1915, in Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Mitrione) Suranno. She was the wife of the late, Michael J. Mazzo, who died in 1969.

Rose was a packing department inspector at Hagerstown Shoe Co. for 42 years. She was a life member of Catholic Daughters of America. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown, where she was active with Lady Sodality.

She touched everyone on earth that she met no matter what their age or status in life. She loved playing bingo and we are sure she is organizing a game now if Heaven has not got one started already. Rose will be greatly missed on earth, but thank God we had her for 93 years. Fortunately for Heaven, they will have her for eternity.

Rose is survived by two brothers, Michael A. Suranno and Joseph Suranno; one sister, Jennie Nally, all of Hagerstown; and so many family and friends lucky enough to know her as Aunt Rose.

Rose was preceded in death by one sister, Julia T. Martin Beall.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Fr. J. Collin Poston will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Christian Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences are accepted at www.geraldminnichfuneralhome.com.
