Emma Pearl Walker, 87

TRENTON, N.J. - Emma Pearl Walker, 87, died Wednesday at the Royal Health Rehab Center in Trenton.

Born in Denver, Colo., Mrs. Walker lived most of her adult life in Trenton. After retiring, she relocated to Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the Greencastle Baptist Church in Greencastle Pa., an avid needle worker and puzzle solver who enjoyed playing Scrabble. Mrs. Walker worked as a secretary for the State of New Jersey Highway Department and retired from the U.S. Government's Department of Agriculture Food Program. In Greencastle, she served as church secretary for 11 years, where she was an active member of that church family.

Mother of the late Dennis Walker, she is survived by one daughter, Diane Walker Torkelson and her husband Norman of Stockton, N.J.; one son, David Walker of Trenton; one brother, Major (Mike) Marling and his wife Ethyl of Chambersburg Pa.; six grandchildren, Carrie Ann Walker, Jessica Walker, Leah Walker, Raymond Walker, Kjisten Torkelson and Sara Torkelson; and two great-grandchildren, Roland and Bronwyn.

A memorial/homecoming celebration will be held Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Greencastle Baptist Church, 2377 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle Pa.

Burial will be private at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg Pa., under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. in Lambertville, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greencastle Baptist Church, 2377 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA 17225 or to the National Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall St. 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
