MAUGANSVILLE - Michael Allen McKee (Mick), 70, of Maugansville, Md., expired Dec. 2, 2008, at his home.

Born Aug. 6, 1938 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Guy Allen McKee and Catherine L. Hastings McKee.

He was secretary/treasurer of L.F. Franklin and Sons Construction, Inc. and Valley Asphalt Products, Inc. of Stephenson, Va., retiring in 2003.

He graduated from Hagerstown High School, class of 1956, where he served as president of his senior class and was active in the student council and other organizations. He was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams during his school years.


He was a member of the first Pony League Baseball World Series held in Washington, Pa., in 1952, representing Hagerstown.

He attended the University of Maryland before entering the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War with bravery and honor.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he served as head usher for communion and other worship services.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Ellen Dyche McKee of Maugansville; and daughter, Alyson Paige McKee Humphreys and her husband, Mike of Winchester, Va.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Linda Dyche Fonzi and husband, Sam of Richmond, Va.; niece, Mendi Lynn Wingfield and husband, Brian of Washington, D.C. and Amy Elizabeth Cormier and her husband, Courtney of Richmond; and one great-nephew, Tyler Scott Cormier.

The family will receive friends, Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Services will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740, on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randy Reed and the Rev. Paul Galey officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
