"Reading of the hotel bombing in India should be a reminder to all of us that President Bush has been so relentlessly dedicated to keeping this country safe for these past eight years. Here are some other things he has accomplished: because of the passage of Medicare D, nearly 10 million low-income seniors are receiving prescription drugs at little or no cost. No Child Left Behind education reform has helped raise the average reading score and narrowed the achievement gap. ... His plan for AIDS relief helped provide treatment for more than 1.7 million people and compassionate for at least 2 million orphans."

"I'm calling in regards to the Mail Call on Monday, Dec. 1, the person saying happy birthday to Jesus. I think you're calling in several months too early. If you actually want to just celebrate Jesus' birthday you should be doing it in the springtime. I believe it's in April. So now if you want to celebrate Christmas, which is actually Yule, then you would be celebrating it now. But if you just want to celebrate Jesus' birthday, you should probably just do it in the spring."

"This is to the (youths) who are going around the neighborhood and stealing baby Jesus from the manger scene. I went out this morning, and I had my baby Jesus stolen off of Meadowood Drive, and I had Frosty sitting out in the yard. Apparently someone had spooked them, and they left Frosty sit out in the yard. So I just wanted to give everybody a heads-up in the Halfway area, and by the way, we do have them on tape. So keep an eye on your Christmas decorations."

"I never minded saying that I was a conservative Republican, but now since things have changed, since conservative Ronald Reagan left us with a $200 billion deficit, and George H.W. Bush left us with a $300 billion deficit, and George W. Bush left us with a $482 billion deficit, I'm not so sure I want to be a conservative Republican anymore. Of course, John McCain promised the same thing."

"I voted for Obama to get us out of these wars, but yet he is getting us in deeper. He is sending 10,000 more troops into Afghanistan, and the war on Iraq he is letting go, too. So he is worse than Bush, and his pick of Hillary Clinton as secretary of state is devastating. The Dow is now down 500 points."

"Those who think George Bush has kept us safe since 9/11 are awfully nave. Yes, he has created the largest agency of bureaucrats ever in the history of this country who are reactive instead of proactive to perceived attacks. Unfortunately, the only reason we have not been attacked is just sure dumb luck. It's not anything President Bush has done."

"Concerning some of the shoppers that went to Prime Outlets and came out and their vehicles weren't there, I thought that was really kind of humorous, funny. I mean, that'll teach these people to think that they can park anywhere they please. I mean, they need to respect people's property and all. But no, all they were out for is to get the big bargains at Prime Outlets. Yeah, I thought that was really amusing. Yeah, that'll teach these here shop-till-you-drop shoppers. That'll teach them, or to park in the grass or wherever they think they can."

"Just out of curiosity ... there's a ... station there that is always consistently 20 to 30 cents higher than all the other gas stations in the area, and I'm really kind of curious whether that's price gouging or not."

- Hagerstown

"I'm an avid recycler. I pulled into the recycling bin in South End Shopping Center this morning, and there was mattresses, couches, wooden doors. How ignorant can people be? We're trying to clean up our beautiful earth, and they do things like that."

"I am a fan of Leonard Pitts' articles. I find them interesting and very informative."
