Party for Make-A-Wish children is Friday

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Make-A-Wish children will enjoy an afternoon of food, entertainment and a visit from Santa as they celebrate the upcoming holidays at the Make-A-Wish Foundation Wish Family Holiday Party.

The event will be Saturday starting at noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 336 E. Garfield St. in Chambersburg.

The celebration is made possible by a number of groups, including the Penn National Outreach Women's group, the Cumberland Valley Dental Society, the Franklin County Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament committee, the Columbia Ladies, the Knights of Columbus and the Franklin County Make-A-Wish Volunteers.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia is a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

It oversees wish fulfillment and fundraising activities in Adams, Bedford, Franklin, Fulton and York counties. In fiscal year 2007, the regional office fulfilled 44 wishes.
