Coin-counting proceeds go to support troops

November 30, 2008

Beginning in July, Hagerstown Trust Co. began to offer a new service, bulk coin counting. The bank installed new self-serve coin counting machines in each branch. Customers can bring in their loose change in any amount, pour it into the machine and it will sort and count the coins providing the customer with a receipt that they can take to the teller and get the cash or deposit it into their Hagerstown Trust account. The fee for the use of this machine is 6 percent and all of the proceeds from the use of these machines will be donated to a different local charity each month. For September, South Washington County Military Support Group was the charity selected. September's proceeds from the coin machine generated $570.35 to help support the troops.
