The Robinsons

James and Nancy Robinson of Halfway celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party on Oct. 18, 2008, at Northgate Community Center in Hagerstown. Many of their friends and family attended.

The party was hosted by their children and their spouses: Carl and Debora Piper of Greencastle, Pa.; Greg and Elaine Johnston of Hagerstown; and Janel Robinson of Hagerstown. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren also attended.

Mrs. Robinson is the former Nancy Piper, daughter of the late Samuel Webster Piper Sr. and Susan Jane Tracy Piper. She graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Hagerstown.

Mr. Robinson is the son of the late Leslie Robinson and Alice Kershner Robinson. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Truck Enterprises in Hagerstown.     


A trip on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad was given to them. 

The Robinsons were married on Oct. 4, 1958, in Clear Spring by the Rev. Wade Huffman.

The Waughs

David and Betty Waugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., were given a surprise 50th anniversary dinner on Sept. 13, 2008, at the Best Western/Homestead Conference Center in Berkeley Springs.

The celebrations included a slideshow presentation.

The three-tier anniversary cake was baked by Linda Hampe of Berkeley Springs.

Approximately 85 guests attended, including family and friends from Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The Waughs were married on Sept. 24, 1958.

Mrs. Waugh is the daughter of Virginia Potter and the late Ervin Potter. She worked at the Country Inn and was a homemaker.

Mr. Waugh is the son of the late Hammond and Frances Waugh. He is retired from Allegheny Power.

Their children and spouses are Rick and Crystal Waugh, Randy and Tammy Waugh, Lisa Coble and Frances Waugh.

They have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Waughs

Rick and Crystal Waugh of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., celebrated their 25th anniversary by taking a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean on Carnival Liberty.

Mrs. Waugh is the daughter of Peggy Love, Bristol, Va. She is employed at M.E.D.I.C., Inc. in Winchester, Va.

Mr. Waugh is the son of David and Betty Waugh of Berkeley Springs. He is self-employed/owner of Rick's Delivery Service.

Rev. Henry Fischer married them on Sept. 23, 1983, at Spohr's Crossroads Church in Berkeley Springs.

They have two children, James Waugh and Elizabeth Mallory.

They have one grandchild.
