St. John's Episcopal Church, the Rev. David Clark will be guest preacher Sunday at the 8 and 10:15 a.m. communion services. The Great Litany will be read responsively at the early service and will be sung in procession at the later service. The parish choir will provide music at the later service. Sunday school is at 9 a.m. including an adult forum.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Pastor Quentin Fleming will speak Sunday at the 8:15 a.m. chapel service and the 10:30 a.m. alternative worship/communion service on "Be Alert." Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Pastor Eric Norgard will speak this first Sunday in Advent at the 8:30 a.m. praise worship service and the 10:45 a.m. evangelical worship. Gregory Shook is the new minister of music.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, Pastor Mark Mooney will speak Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on "You'd Better Watch Out." Mooney and his puppet friends also will highlight the morning service. Sunday school is at 10:45 a.m. Following Sunday's service will be adult study on John Wesley's Three Simple Rules.

A Cry in the Wilderness Ministries will hold services at Steve's Studio at 13194 Monterrey Lane in Rouzerville, Pa. The Rev. Steve Burdette will speak Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on "Holy Ground."

Welty Church of the Brethren, Greensburg, Pastor Mike Manthos will speak Sunday at 10:40 a.m. on "A Time to Remember." Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Church of the Holy Trinity UCC, Halfway, the Rev. Tim Leighton will speak Sunday at 10:45 a.m. on "Into the Darkness ..." Fellowship and refreshments follow the service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Tri-State Fellowship, Pastor Randy Buchman will speak Sunday at 9:15 and 11 a.m. on "Celebrating the Goodness of God." Full morning children's and student programs are offered for infants through 12th grade, along with many choices for adults during both sessions. Youth groups for middle and high school students meet from 6 to 8 p.m.

New Beginning Community Church, corner of Dual Highway and Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, Pastor Mark Snyder will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Christmastime: Batteries Not Included." Music will be provided by The Gospel Trio. A series on the Book of Romans is Monday at 7 p.m.
