Senior club plans monthly gathering

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Tops Chinese Buffet at the North Village Plaza. A Dutch treat lunch will be followed by the meeting and Christmas program. Don't forget to bring some decorations for the tables to help everyone get in the spirit of the season. Pancake breakfast to help youth group

The youth group from Salem Reformed Church will host a pancake/sausage breakfast Saturday from midnight to 10 a.m. Breakfast costs $5. The breakfast is especially for all the hunters who will be leaving their homes early in the morning, but anyone may attend. Proceeds will help pay for the group's 2009 missions trip.

Manager deadline extended once again

Maugansville Little League's board of directors has extended the deadline for accepting letters of interest for managers of all divisions for the 2009 baseball season.


Letters of interest may be given to any board member or mailed to P.O. Box 266, Maugansville, MD 21767. Please indicate which division you are interested in managing. The final deadline for submitting letters of interest is Dec. 8. All letters of interest must be received by this date.

Students recognized

The new Maugansville Elementary School recognized students for being trustworthy at the first Golden Table of the year on Oct. 16. Students each received a book, compliments of the PTA, a school-related goodie bag, some healthy treats, a certificate and a star to wear designating their accomplishment.

Those recognized were:

Kindergarten - Maddie Dawson, Keri Scallion, Zacary Baker, Wyatt Bussard, Shelden Foster, Merredith Morton, Connor Hosein, Katie Bere and Lucas George; first grade - Marshall Lowman, Alexis Highbarger, Sophie Scheck, Dillan Frank, Jennifer King, Patrick Dominguez, Ian Waugh, Stephanie Vicarte, Melanie Boschen and Jason Guevara; second grade - Crystal Martinez, Seth Stuller, Mya Rattay, Steven Cermeno, Luke Coulter, Lauren Aidoo, Kylie Albertson, Dustin Fisher, Scott Neal and Heidi Selders; third grade - Cody Carter, Maria Cardenas, Kevin Abrahams, Makiya Claiborne, Kyle Abrahams, Adam Harbert, Chelsea Coble, Jesse Exline, Ashley Romero and Joe George; fourth grade - Katie Lee, Tyler Long, Daniel Culver, Lisa Weller, Max Crocetta, Akua Baabu Mireku, Julie Hutzell and Ethan Fields; fifth grade - Billy Hatcher, Reid Wallech, Brianna Shelly, Chad Malcolm, Patrick O'Connor, Anna Scheck and Anthony Benda.

The next Golden Table will celebrate the character trait respect. The event will be held on Dec. 10.
