Speed limits being reduced on four Chambersburg streets

November 28, 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The speed limits on four streets in the Nicholson Square development will be reduced following a vote Monday by the Chambersburg Borough Council.

"It's an area where we've got a lot of kids, a lot of activity," Borough Council President William McLaughlin said. "It just makes sense to do it."

The Parking, Traffic and Street Lighting Committee recommended reducing the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph on Ashley and Bassett drives; Clinton Avenue between Woodstock Road and Bassett Drive; and Powell Drive between Woodstock and Clinton.

That will make the speed limit throughout the development uniform, committee chairman Allen Coffman said.
