Diabetics asked to volunteer in clinical trial at Futrex Inc.

November 27, 2008

People living with diabetes are needed to volunteer at Futrex Inc. for a clinical trial of a noninvasive method to measure blood glucose.

Futrex, at 130 Western Maryland Parkway in Hagerstown, is asking people to come in between Dec. 8 and 13 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. For those not able to make it in on those days, call 301-733-9368 to schedule an appointment.

The local company manufactures devices that measure things such as its body composition analyzer.

If Futrex is successful in bringing its new product to market, it could replace the need for finger stick test strips, monitors, lancets, etc. It will have the added benefit of removing blood contaminated test strips and lancets from the waste stream, according to a press release.
