Music at the mall

Area choirs and music groups will perform in the Sears Court area of Valley Mall beginning Monday, Dec. 1. Weekly performances will be held through December.

The schedule will be as follows for the month:

Dec. 4 - E. Russell Hicks Middle School, 7 p.m.; Dec. 6 - Hagers-town Children's Theater, 2 p.m.; Dec. 8 - Boonsboro Middle School, 7 p.m.; Dec. 9 - Fountain Rock Elementary, 7 p.m.; Dec. 10 - Rockland Woods, 7 p.m.; Dec. 13 - North High Show Choir, 2 p.m.; Dec. 13 - Old Forge Elementary, 3 p.m.; Dec. 13 - Music and Arts Center, 7 p.m.; Dec. 18 - Fountaindale Elementary, 7 p.m.; Dec. 20 - New Life Community Church, 7 p.m.; Dec. 21 - Broadfording Christian Academy, 2 p.m.

Pet photos with Santa

Pet photos with Santa will be available at Valley Mall on Monday, Dec. 1 or Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. All pets must be on a leash or carrier while inside the mall. Participants are asked to use the center mall entrance.


City Park lighting

The annual holiday lighting of City Park will be Friday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. A Christmas tree will float on the lake, along with many other holiday characters. A reception at the Jonathan Hager House will follow. A winter petting zoo, carolers and Santa will also be on hand for the event. Free refreshments will be served. City Park is off Virginia Avenue in Hagerstown.

Lunch with Santa

Lunch with Santa Claus will be Saturday, Dec. 6, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Gourmet Goat & GG's Restaurant. The event will include a meal, visit and photo with Santa. There will be a hay ride with Santa, and musical guest Pete Lancaster will perform. Reservations are required. Those interested in attending can call 301-739-8577, ext. 183. The event costs $10 for adults and $6 for children.

Holiday reception

A children's holiday reception will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in City Park.

The reception will begin with a puppet show titled "The Secret Life of Rodents." The show is based on the story "Stone Soup." A visit from Santa Claus will follow the performance. Tickets must be purchased in advance and presented at the door the day of the event. There is a registration fee of $2 per person. For more information, call 301-739-5727.
