WAYNESBORO, Pa. - James C. "Jim" Scott, 65, of 520 W. Sixth St., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Jan. 27, 1943, in Lock Haven, Pa., he was the son of the late Warren and Viola Criswell Scott.

He was a 1960 graduate of Altoona (Pa.) Area High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1980 as master sergeant, following 20 years of service. After retiring from the military, he was employed in civil service at Site R, Fort Ritchie, Md., and later in Omaha, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Germantown Bethel Church of God in Cascade.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 of Waynesboro and a volunteer of the Fire Police of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.


He was an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Shultz Scott, whom he married March 11, 1961; three children, Tammy L. Lynch, Sandra J. Poffenberger and Todd C. Scott, all of Waynesboro; one sister, Dona Hallman of Duncansville, Pa.; three brothers, Warren Scott of Warner Robins, Ga., and William Scott and Jack Scott, both of Altoona; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Scott.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Pastor Mark A. Hosler will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military graveside honors by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
