Mail Call

November 26, 2008

"Thank you for the new Maugans Avenue. Yes, I did wonder if it would be worth the wait. It was. It took a few days for me to realize it was actually finished. It seems like the work went on forever. Someone had a vision, and it was a good one. The traffic flow is great. Again, thank you. Look forward to Eastern Boulevard being just as nice." - Hagerstown

"I know Bush isn't really responsible for gas prices going down. I was making a point that it was ridiculous to blame him for the price going up. Also, during the Bush administration, I believe we did have one of the biggest housing market booms. I don't remember hearing people complaining that they were getting much more for their houses than they should have. Also, we have not had another terrorist attack since 9/11. Remember that Bush isn't really the only one running the country. We have Congress to help with that. Bush has not been a terrible president. The media has just painted him as one." - Hagerstown

"I have been reading and hearing a lot about Obama's cabinet picks not being about change, because they are experienced people mostly from the Clinton years. Anybody, I repeat, anybody, including John McCain, would be a change from the Bush administration. I don't think any new administration could continue on the Bush path and survive, and our country couldn't either." - Greencastle, Pa.

"I just want to put a thank you in for mail carrier Tammy, in the South End of town. I'm usually one that doesn't agree with the mail service, how it's delivered, but she came through, by returning an envelope that was improperly addressed, and it enclosed a check, and it was really appreciated that she did not deliver it to the wrong address." - Clear Spring

"I can't understand why everybody is complaining about Obama making his cabinet with a bunch of ex-Clintonites. Does everybody forget that during the Clinton administration we actually had the country in the black, for the first time in history, and the only time in history? So obviously these people know what they're doing. I don't care if they're all Clintonites. Get this country out of the hole, get it out of the recession. Republicans, does anybody remember the '90s, how good they were, and how the country was actually in the black for the first time in history? More Clintonites - more." - Hagerstown

"I know that there's a lot of elderly people with only one child taking primary care of them, and the other family members are living their lives, not getting the caregivers a break and say 'If you want to do something, give us a call.' It's their parents; they should be willing to come down." - Clear Spring

"In this Christmas season, I need to remind folks that the parking for privileged citizens signs are not a Maryland DOT sign. Also, anyone parking in the handicapped signs must have either handicapped stickers or plates, or hang tags. Unlike (the man) who parked in Martin's parking lot at approximately 10:15 on Saturday, and jumped right out and ran in. Senior citizens parking is not a DOT sign, and you must have handicapped plates or hang tags to park in handicapped places." - Hagerstown

"I was calling in about the lady saying don't worry about Nancy Pelosi, and that Reagan bailed out Chrysler and they paid them back, so don't worry, that they'll get paid back, too. They won't be paying them back. They'll be paying us back from our taxes that'll be taken from us." - Hagerstown

"I stopped using Eastern Boulevard to get to Robinwood Medical for my appointments, and started using Jefferson Boulevard. So today, Friday, I started up Jefferson Boulevard, and they're tearing it up. Who gives the permission for them to tear up two roads at the same time? Also, just what we needed - flower beds in the middle of Eastern Boulevard, and another exit onto Jefferson Boulevard. Who approves these things?" - Hagerstown

"I just want to comment on the concert at The Maryland Theatre. I just want to say it was a great show. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was one of the fantastic nights of my life. These guys were great, and whoever put this on needs to bring them back next year, or at least a similar type group next year, because I for one am going. I know at least a dozen people around me that are gonna go. It was just outstanding. I just want to say congrats to The Maryland Theatre, and all the ushers and the hard work they did. Great, great, great show." - Hagerstown

"I read that our President-elect Barack Hussein Obama wants to create 2.5 million jobs out of thin air, sort of reinventing the WPA, to fix roads and bridges. Imagine what that'll cost, and the inefficiency." - Waynesboro, Pa.

"In reference to the article, a person from Smithsburg, about the elderly being critical and greedy, the answer for her is wait until you get there; you'll understand." - Falling Waters, W.Va.

"Would those who stole the four ornamental geese from the yard on Natural Wells Road in Downsville, we know who took them, so please return them."
