Family donates Christmas tree to Shepherdstown

November 25, 2008

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - When the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown contacted Eric and Gloria Sundback about the possibility of donating a Christmas tree to the town, the Sundbacks readily agreed.

Dan Taylor and Bryan Holler, who operate the Sundback's Christmas Tree Farm at 4001 Engle Moler Road, delivered and set up a 16-foot Douglas fir tree on the lawn of McMurran Hall for the enjoyment of the community and all who visit this holiday season.

The Sundbacks said the seed for the tree was one of 500 that were gathered on a trip to the Rocky Mountains in 1993. It has grown on their farm for the past 13 years.

Tom Trumble, president of the Rotary Club, accepted the Sundback's gift on behalf of the town. The Rotary Club will decorate the tree.
