FCCTC Practical Nursing Program

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Career and Technology Center Practical Nursing Program, on the campus of Wilson College, had a 100 percent pass rate on the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing licensure exam for its August 2008 graduates. There were 21 graduates in the class, which also had a 100 percent employment rate.

The Practical Nursing Program is a full-time, one-year program that provides the theory and clinical learning experiences necessary to become a licensed practical nurse. It is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the National League for Nursing. It also is approved for veterans training.

Tourism Council of Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. - The Tourism Council of Frederick County won two of eight awards in the marketing category at the 2008 Maryland Governor's Tourism Industry Conference.


The awards were for best visitors guide and best cooperative promotion for an integrated campaign or continuing program.

Destination Frederick County, the tourism council's visitors guide, won for the third consecutive year.

The Frederick Wine Trail, which promotes viticulture in Frederick and helps wine enthusiasts explore Frederick's wineries, won the cooperative promotion for an integrated campaign or continuing program award.

Silhouette Salon

Silhouette Salon on Marsh Pike was the site of a fundraiser last month that raised more than $1,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley.

The salon donated all of the proceeds from a yard sale to the local charity. Sale items were collected from many of Silhouette's customers.

First National Bank of Greencastle

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Graystone Financial Corp., the holding company of Graystone Bank, and Tower Bancorp, Inc., the holding company of First National Bank of Greencastle, have announced the partnership of their financial institutions.

The banks will continue to operate under their established brands and their customers will receive the same services and products at their existing locations.

Current Graystone Bank branches will operate as Graystone Bank, a division of Graystone Tower Bank, and current First National Bank of Greencastle branches will operate as Tower Bank, a division of Graystone Tower Bank.


HALFWAY - Gamestop at Valley Mall hosted a launch party Nov. 12 for "Wrath of the Lich King," the newest "World of Warcraft" game.

More than 150 gamers attended the event from 10 p.m. to midnight that featured "World of Warcraft" trivia, music and a costume contest. Gamers received their preordered copy of the game at midnight.

Bowers Marine Sales

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Bowers Marine Sales was recognized for excellence in sales and service by marine manufacture Tracker Marine Group at its annual dealer conference in Branson, Mo.

The dealership was honored as one of the top 10 dealers in Tracker Marine Group's dealer network. Bowers Marine Sales serves customers in Pennsylvania and Maryland, with locations in Reading and Harrisburg, Pa., and in Hagerstown.
