RANSON, W.Va. - William W. "Pap" Jackson, 91, of Ranson, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born May 2, 1917, in Millville, W.Va., he was the son of the late William E. Jackson and Ada Landers Jackson.

He was a graduate of Harpers Ferry (W.Va.) High School.

He had been a sales manager for Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation for 40 years.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town.

He was a member and former president of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71 of Charles Town, Sons of Confederate Veterans Henry Kyd Douglas Camp, Jefferson County Historical Society and Harpers Ferry-Bolivar District Veterans, among other organizations.


He received the Community Services Award from WXVA in 1984.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katherine "Kitty" Jackson; one sister, Sharon J. Wysong of Charles Town; one brother, Paul V. Jackson of Charles Town; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Zion Episcopal Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Melanie McCarley will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Church Columbarium.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
