Targe named advertising director of The Herald-Mail Co.

Mark Targe has joined The Herald-Mail Co. as advertising director. In this role, he will serve as the chief revenue officer of the company.

He begins his new duties Monday.

Targe's last job was as advertising director at The Roanoke Times. Prior to that, he was with The Anchorage Daily News for about 10 years, five of which were spent as advertising director. He also has worked for Knight-Ridder newspapers, The Chicago Tribune and The Times in Munster, Ind.

Targe is a graduate of the University of Miami-Florida, and has a master's degree from the University of Missouri.

"We had an incredibly strong group of candidates for the position, and I'm excited and pleased that we could bring Mark to Hagerstown," said John League, editor and publisher of The Herald-Mail. "Mark is an experienced professional who understands old and new media. He also knows the customer comes first. He'll be a great addition to The Herald-Mail staff, bringing considerable experience, creativity and leadership to our team."

Targe and his wife will relocate to the Hagerstown-Washington County area. They have two sons, both of whom are in college.
