Four schools in Panhandle are honored

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Four schools in Berkeley and Jefferson counties are among more than 70 statewide that have been honored for receiving "exemplary accreditation," according to the West Virginia Department of Education.

Bunker Hill Elementary School in Berkeley County and Shepherdstown Elementary, C.W. Shipley Elementary and Shepherdstown Middle schools in Jefferson County were recognized, according to state education officials.

Standards required to obtain the designation include test scores on the West Virginia Educational Standards Test (WESTEST) and the Writing Assessment, attendance, graduation rate and other factors.
