QUINCY, Pa. - Betty J. Irving Poper, 78, of Quincy Village, and formerly of 227 Dickinson Ave. in Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Quincy Village.

Born Feb. 3, 1930, in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Carrie V. Schroyer Irving.

She was a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. "Jack" Poper, in 1997. They were married Feb. 22, 1968.

She most recently was employed as a camera and jewelry clerk at Kmart in Waynesboro.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, where she was a member of Married Couples Sunday School Class and the choir.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 of Waynesboro.

She is survived by six daughters, Lisa M. Poper of Waynesboro, Stacy I. Poper and Denise J. Minnich, both of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kristi B. Chapman and Leslie J. Poper, both of Lancaster, Pa., and Yvonne M. Neumeyer of Harrisburg, Pa.; one son, Darren L. Minnich of California; one sister, Leora Breining of Middlesboro, Ky.; one brother, Russell Irving of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Eck; and two brothers, William Irving and Paul Irving.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Mark Shover will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
