WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jean E. Haugh Houser, 85, of Waynesboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born in 1922 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Ellis and Anna Koons Haugh.
She was a 1940 graduate of Waynesboro High School, where she played the violin in the orchestra.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Barr Houser, in 2004. They were married in 1944.
Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was employed as a clerk by J.C. Penney in Waynesboro for 25 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro, where she was a member of the 3-M Sunday School Class.
She was a member and former worthy matron of Mount Vernon Chapter 395 Order of the Eastern Star of Waynesboro, and a member of South Chapter AARP 2977 of Waynesboro, J.C. Penney's Girls and National AARP.
