FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Richard H. Chilcote, 78, of the Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of Grant Shook Road in Greencastle, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 1, 1930, in Orbisonia, Pa., he was the son of the late Herman P. and Mabel P. Jacka Chilcote.

He served in U.S. Army during World War II. He later served in the National Guard.

He was employed for more than 30 years by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., as a heavy equipment operator in the maintenance department.

He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by three daughters, Karen Baker and Cathy Kimmel, both of Greencastle, and Mary Jo Barger of Hagerstown; one son, Ricky Chilcote of Greencastle; five half sisters, Mary McElrath, Dolly Mann, Jane Lauder, Beverly Stickler and Alma Helmuth; five half brothers, Boyd Chilcote, Eugene Chilcote, Wendell Chilcote, Robert Chilcote and Randy Chilcote; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Chilcote and Max Chilcote.

Private services will be at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle. Chaplain Ryan Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military graveside honors by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg.
