CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold E. Reichenbach, 84, of 2242 Scotland Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the Magnolias of Chambersburg.

Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Sunbury, Pa., he was the son of the late Irvin E. and Mary Catherine Haas Reichenbach.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lera G. Sanders Reichenbach, in 1987.

He was a 1942 graduate of Sunbury High School.

He was assistant manager of General Acceptance Corp. Offices in Sunbury and Scranton, Pa. He was the manager of the loan office in Chambersburg in 1954 and 1955. He opened the installment loan department at Chambersburg Trust Co., now M&T Bank, in 1956. He retired in 1979.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg.

He was a member of the Chambersburg Club, VFW Post 1599 and Fayetteville (Pa.) Fire Co.; a former member of St. Thomas American Legion Post 612 and its Last Man's Club; and a former member and treasurer of the Whirly Birds Square Dance Club, among other organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy McCormick Reichenbach, whom he married Feb. 15, 1992; one daughter, Cathy R. Maloney of Winchester, Va.; two sons, Gregory A. Reichenbach of Chambersburg and Scott H. Reichenbach of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Matthew Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military graveside honors by the honor guard of VFW Post 1599.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
