Financial workshop



A financial workshop, presented by Bob Budnicki, a financial planner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans starts today at 6:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St.

The workshop will be presented free to anyone struggling with today's economic situations. It covers six weeks, about an hour and a half each week. The topics include credit and debit, communicating about money, setting goals, budgeting, finding money to save, stewardship and values.

Band Boosters



The Williamsport Band Boosters will hold its second new uniform bonanza Saturday at the Fairplay Fire Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $35 per couple, which includes meal, drinks, dessert and a live band until 11 p.m. The event is open to adults 21 and older. There will be raffles, 50/50s and tip jars. All proceeds go toward paying off the new Blue Band uniforms. For tickets or information, contact Karen Long at 301-582-3819 or k.long@myactv.net.

Martial arts seminar



Bruce Lee returns! Well, almost! Cass Magda, a second generation, direct lineage student of the late Bruce Lee, will be at the Williamsport American Legion Saturday and Sunday conducting a martial arts seminar. Magda's seminar will feature Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, the Filipino Martial Art of Kali, and the Indonesian Martial Art of Pentjak Silat. Spaghetti dinner



A spaghetti dinner to benefit the restoration of Riverview Cemetery, recently vandalized, will be Sunday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Williamsport Fire Hall. Tickets cost $6 and will be available at the door or in advance at Town Hall. The spaghetti sauce and pasta has been donated by Tony's Pizza. A silent auction will be held during the dinner. To make a donation to the auction, call Town Hall at 301-223-7711.

Luminarias



Luminarias will be available to purchase for $5, in memory of loved ones, and will be placed in Riverview Cemetery the evening of Dec. 13. The rain date is Dec. 14. Luminarias will be available at the dinner and in advance at Town Hall and Osborne's Funeral Home.

A special thank you to Williamsport merchants for providing posters and donation containers for the Riverview Cemetery restoration and to the Williamsport United Methodist Church for the great meatloaf dinner last Saturday and to Mr. Jewells for helping to advertise Riverview Cemetery fundraiser events.

Basket bingo



A Longaberger basket bingo will be held Sunday at Williamsport Red Men. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. The menu includes a two-piece chicken dinner. Bingo begins at 1 p.m. with 25 games with 18 baskets and seven cash prizes.

Extra cards and specials will be available along with raffles and games of chance. All proceeds will go to the Great Wenonah Project. Contact Liz Bowers at 304-274-3244.

Thanksgiving service



A Thanksgiving eve service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St. Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable canned food item for the Williamsport Food Bank or a monetary offering for the ongoing work of the Williamsport Area Ministerium. The service is sponsored by the Williamsport Area Ministerium

Change in time



Please note the change in time. The Williamsport Town Parade will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. If your group would like to participate in the parade, call Town Hall at 301-223-7711.

Town parade



Would you like to ride in the Town Christmas Parade on the trolley used during Williamsport Days? On Dec. 5 be at Parkview Knolls to be picked up by the trolley between 5:30 and 5:45 p.m. The trolley will join in the parade, stop in Byron Memorial Park for the Town Employees Christmas Lighting ceremony and the official start of the season of Christmas in Williamsport. The trolley will then return to Parkview Knolls.

Open house



The Williamsport Ministerium Churches Christmas open house will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28. Tickets cost $5 per person, which includes admission to all participating churches. Booklet/tickets will be available at each church during the tour or in advance at churches, Town Hall and Osborne Funeral Home during regular business hours or by calling Joan Knode at 301-223-7229.

Country churches will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. and town churches will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. Visitors will enjoy a reflection of how local churches celebrate this time of the Christian year.

This event will benefit the restoration of Riverview Cemetery.

Shopping bazaar



A Christmas shopping bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 16726 Lappans Road.
