Washington Co. receives grant toward defibrillator

November 18, 2008

The Washington County Department of Fire and Emergency Services will receive a $36,817 state grant to pay half of the cost of cardiac defibrillator equipment.

The grant was approved Tuesday by the Washington County Commissioners.

The remaining cost of the equipment will be paid by the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, which will contribute $35,000, and the Fire and Emergency Services department, which will pay the remainder of the match.

The Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services Systems offers annual grants to fire, rescue and emergency medical service organizations across the state to buy cardiac defibrillator equipment.
