Rams sign five players

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University coach Sarah Smith announced that five student-athletes have signed letters-of-intent to play volleyball for the Rams next season: Julie Brostrom (Howard Community College), Tara Bradley (South Elgin, Ill.), Lauren Gardner (Clarkston, Miss.), Teresa McElroy (Woodbridge Senior, Va.) and Kasey Mercier (Mount de Sales Academy, Md.).

Greencastle Turkey Trot

The Greencastle-Antrim Turket Trot 5K Run/Walk and free 1K kids race will be held Thanksgiving Day at 9 a.m., at Greencastle-Antrim High School. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Cost is $25, with proceeds benefitting the Greencastle Running Club. Shepherd hosts kids day

The Shepherd University basketball programs will host the annual NCAA men's and women's basketball "Take a Kid to the Game" day on Saturday. The men will host Mercyhurst at 3 p.m., followed by the women's game against West Liberty at 5.

Area youth are invited to attend the event and receive free admission with the purchase of a full-price adult ticket. There will be halftime contests, autograph sessions for both teams, free popcorn and soda.
