Area Roundup - Hawks' shooting goes cold in loss

Brooke Bradley scored 16 points and North Hampton took advantage of Hagerstown Community College's cold shooting in the second half to beat the Hawks 52-51 on Saturday.

HCC (2-3) led 32-24 at halftime, but scored just 19 points in the second half.

"We just went into an offensive slump for a long time, turned it over a time or two too many," HCC coach Marlys Palmer said. "We just couldn't find the bucket at the end."

Shawayna Morel had nine points, 17 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Hawks. Cara Thompson had 14 points and Veronica Wheeler had nine.

Stonehill 67, Shepherd 53

EASTON, Mass. - Kristen McWhirter scored 19 points to lead Stonehill College over Shepherd University.

Stonehill is ranked eighth in NCAA Division II.

Katie Warehime had 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the Rams (0-1).

Krissy Grosselin added 14 points, while Camille Wilmer had 11 points.



Fayetteville State 92, Shepherd 85

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Darshawn Johnson and Davon Hood each had 14 points to lead Fayetteville State over Shepherd University in the first day of the Clarion Hotel Tipoff Tournament at the Butcher Center.

Shepherd (0-1) was led by Jonathan Motichka, who had a game-high 20 points, and Justin Jarman with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Liki Turner had 18 points and eight boards, while Tyrone Roach added 11 points off the bench.
