Brewster, Mass. - Ann M. Haynes, 89, of Brewster, Mass., and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass., with her family by her side.

Born Jan. 16, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Laura Agnes and Samuel O. Matthews Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clarke T. Haynes; one sister, Elizabeth Dudley; and two brothers, Samuel Matthews Jr. and Henry Matthews.

Ann was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown, and a member of the Ever Ready Class and the Over The Hill Gang.

She was active for many years in the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary and was a former house parent for the WCARC.

She was a 1936 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

All who knew her loved her for her kindness, generosity and quick smile. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a true friend, Mom, Nan and "Dolly."

She is survived by one brother, Robert Matthews of Frederick, Md.; one son David Haynes Sr. of Frederick; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Brad Perry of Brewster; four grandchildren, David Haynes Jr. of Dallas, Ga., Ryan Gladhill of Hagerstown, and Chelsey and Nicholas Perry of Brewster; one great-granddaughter, Jade Haynes of Dallas, nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A private burial will be held by the family Sunday, Nov. 23, at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Burkittsville, Md.
