CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jack T. "Suds" McDonald, 76, of 2130 Philadelphia Ave., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 25, 1931, he was the son of the late William and Eva Cramer McDonald Sr.

He attended Chambersburg High School.

He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper.

He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was a member the American Legion Post 612 of St. Thomas, Pa., Chambersburg Club, Landis-McCleaf Detachment Marine Corps League, The Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 of Williamsport and Goodwill Fire and Hose Co., among others.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Gomer McDonald, whom he married June 29, 1959; two daughters, Jackie L. McDonald of Camp Hill, Pa., and Jane I. Rife of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sons, Richard T. McDonald of Chambersburg and Dwight G. McDonald of Newville, Pa.; one sister, Bonnie McDonald of Chambersburg; three brothers, William P. McDonald and Robert E. McDonald Sr., both of Chambersburg and Richard L. McDonald Sr. of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one aunt; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Ann McDonald; two sisters, Betty J. Kennedy and Peggy Reynolds; and one brother, Walter C. McDonald.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Denise Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery with military honors by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home in Chambersburg and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Miller Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
