Pajamas for kids

This holiday season, Valley Mall has partnered with the Pajama Program to deliver sleepwear and books to needy children. Donations will be accepted, such as a new pair of pajamas or a new book, at the Operation PJ bin in the mall.

Sizes ranging from toddler to adult are welcome. The new items will be delivered by the Pajama Program to children in the area during the holidays and this winter. Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Hickory Elementary

Parents of students attending Hickory Elementary School are invited to attend parent visitation days on Tuesday, Nov. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 19. Hours of visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.


Trains of Christmas

The Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum will host the Trains of Christmas event on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call 301-739-4665 or go to on the Web.

Santa to arrive

Santa Claus will arrive in downtown Hagers-town and Mayor Robert Bruchey will light the Christmas tree in Public Square on Monday, Nov. 24, starting at 5 p.m. The South Hagerstown High School and North Hagerstown High School bands will perform. Santa's elves, Jingle and Jangle, will be on hand for face painting. There will be hot chocolate and goodies provided by M&T Bank.
