Panhandle hospitals chief retiring

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- The president and chief executive officer of the organization that runs City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va., announced his retirement Tuesday night, according to a press release.

Roger Eitelman, head of West Virginia University Hospitals-East, will step down Dec. 31, the release said.

Eitelman has headed-up West Virginia University Hospitals-East since 2005 and worked in hospital administration in the Norfolk and Newport News areas of Virginia and in Hawaii before coming to Berkeley County.

A search for a replacement for Eitelman will begin immediately, Bruce McClymonds, president and CEO of WVU Hospitals in Morgantown, said in the release.
