Commission discusses hospital bid

November 09, 2008|By TRISH RUDDER

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Valley Health officials met privately with the Morgan County commissioners Nov. 6, Commission President Glen R. Stotler said at Friday's commission meeting.

The closed meeting was to discuss the bid that was received Oct. 15 from Valley Health regarding the purchase of War Memorial Hospital, he said.

Valley Health, which manages the hospital, was the lone bidder.

Stotler said a county attorney from Richard Gay's office attended the executive session, where no decisions were made. He said he told Valley Heath representatives that the commissioners were disappointed in the low bid of $1.5 million for the hospital.

He said another private meeting is planned Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. to further discuss the bid.

Stotler said West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, W.Va., requested a bid package but did not submit one. They are affiliated with United Health Systems, he said.
