Twenty-four states represented in Miniature Art 2008

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Council for the Arts announces the opening of Miniature Art 2008 at its office and gallery space at 159 S. Main St.

The exhibit, sponsored by Gypsie, continues through Saturday, Jan. 10, and features 186 works by artists from 24 states. The public is welcome to view the exhibit during regular office hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays until Jan. 10. Eva Keller Carson judged the show.

Local winners were:

o Merit award of $100: LaVerne Hill of Chambersburg for "Autumn Snow."

Honorable mention:

o Dolores Allnock of Frederick, Md., for "Reflections."

o Linda Elsea of Falling Waters, W.Va., for "Morning Feeding."

o Robert Morrow of Waynesboro, Pa., for "On the Alert."

o Marti Yeager of Fayetteville, Pa., for "Red Field."
