Nutcracker Gala and Benefit Auction on Saturday at Fort Ritchie

The Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company will host the fourth annual Nutcracker Gala and Benefit Auction on Saturday at Lakeside Hall at Fort Ritchie. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The gala is a fundraising event to enhance the performance and educational activities of the nonprofit, pre-professional ballet company.

The evening will include an assortment of food items courtesy of Liz Hopkinson and Palate Pleasers, raffles, a silent auction and a live auction. A short performance by the ballet company will round out the event.

Items donated for the auction include:

o Snowboard courtesy of Bikle's Ski Shop and signed by the bands Everclear and Sister Hazel

o Night on the town with tickets to a show and dinner

o A necklace and earrings from R. Bruce Carson Jewelers

o One week of art camp courtesy of the Washington County Arts Council

o Seven-day trip to a Caribbean resort

o Luggage package from Bikle's Ski Shop


o Handmade quilt

o Amore Spa package from Bella Salon

o Nintendo Wii game system with additional remote, nunchuk and nine games

o Ballerina birthday party

o Six-visit lawn treatment program courtesy of Gary Huntsberger

o James Bond package with framed movie poster, stamps, movie and book

o Ski lessons and Whitetail lift pass

o Gold's Gym membership

o Eight VIP Hagerstown Suns tickets and two baseball caps

o Seal coating of driveway or parking area courtesy of Jeter Paving

o Glam Girl spa package at the Spa at Roop's Mill Inc.

o Many gift baskets, gift certificates for restaurants, merchandise and services suitable for adults and children with a variety of interests.

The list already includes more than 100 items, according to chairperson Robin Thomas. Cash, checks and VISA, MasterCard and Discover will be accepted.

The Potomac Classical Youth Ballet Company will present its annual Nutcracker production Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. at The Maryland Theatre. Special guests from the Minneapolis Ballet will be a part of the production. Tickets are available at The Maryland Theatre Box Office.
