Chambersburg man injured in crash on U.S. 30

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg, Pa., man was flown to Altoona Hospital after his vehicle flipped over a guardrail Sunday on U.S. 30, rolled down an embankment and struck a tree, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

Gary D. Truax, 27, had moderate injuries but was expected to recover, police said.

Truax was driving east on U.S. 30 at about 4:44 p.m. Sunday when his Dodge Caliber struck the westbound side guardrail east of St. Forest Road three times, flipped over the guardrail, and overturned four times as it rolled down the embankment, police said. It struck a tree about 72 feet from the roadway, police said.

Truax was wearing his seat belt and the front air bags of the vehicle deployed, police said.
